Equipment Specifications
  • Novice (6-8 years old) - 65-76cm in diameter
  • Sub-Junior (9-11 years old) - 76-85cm in diameter
  • Junior (12-14 years old) - 70-89cm in diameter
  • Senior - 80-90cm in diameter, weight 300g minimum
Routines must Include
  • throws
  • rotations
  • different rolls (on the body and on the floor)
  • passage through the hoop
  • leaps through and over the hoop
  • circles and figures of eight movements
Tips for Apparatus Care
  • Store the hoop on a flat surface if possible (ie: under the bed) as they are easily bent out of shape
  • Use coloured tape (ie: electrical tape) to help strenghten the hoop, as well as add weight and colour
  • Use sports tape on the hoop to give it more grip
  • The hoop should reach the top of the gymnasts leg, but should not pass the waistline
